Anyone used TASKAM Model 12 or 16 as an interface?

Hello,
I'm currently using a Tascam 16X8 interface and I have no problems at all with it, great interface. I am however hitting a wall with my mixing, and I'm considering a control surface with physical faders. I think the Tascam Models 12 and 16 might be great options but I'm curious if anyone can chime in on experience using either model as an interface, and in particular if they have any thoughts on setting up mixes/automations using these machines.
