Default VCC + SSL strip = 2 times desk dist?

Been wondering...

If you put Slate VCC or Waves NLS on a track (and set it to ssl) and then add a ssl channelstrip like the UAD or Waves - do you theoreticly have 2 times the desk distortion then?

Boe

Don't know about UAD, but Waves SSL version has option to add 'analog' or not. Try it & see whether you like it, or not.......

But that's just turning on and off the hiss and hum, I don't think it's turning off any nonlinearities.

UA allows you to do a similar thing, just making the "noise" go away.

Yah, the analog button does nothing but turn the hiss and sixty cycle hum on or off. I've confirmed that with the guys at Waves. The pain in the butt aspect of it is that all the ones that have it default to opening with it on. Of course you can make your own user default presets with it defaulting to off but that's kinda silly IMHO.
