Default (badly timed) feature request: a Presentation mode

Hi,

I realise the timing of this is horrible with PT6
around the corner...actually on it come to think of it.., but I don't typically write lists at the right time so I'll just write something that I have meant to write for some time:

A "simple" presentation mode command.
...probably not a hard thing to code for the Digi code warriors...
As we work with sound for picture, we need to make the room as dark as it an be for presentations.

Hitting a key command for presentation mode should make the screen as well as all the lights on the Procontrol(s) switches go dark.
Hitting the same key should put it back to life.

The screen issue...
I guess it could be solved with a simple black
screensaver...at least under OSX that would most definitely work..if not as elegant...but regardles..how about a "dark" mode
for the Pro Control?

thanx for listening, that was my feature request for this year.
Any movie/picture people feel this may be a good idea?

regards
Janne Anderson

It's an Apple Cinema 23"...
Don't you know Apple are on a mission to remove buttons from computergear..

Perhaps you are using legacy gear, that still has switches and buttons on them..;-)

Hand out sunglasses to everyone at the presentation & use very bright lights on stage?

Well,

Thanx to everyone who contributed so far to this thread. It's getting interesting now...
Sunglasses and powerbuttons eh?

Maybe I should have pointed out that when you work on sound for picture, there is often picture involved with the sound...so the room needs to be as dark as it can be to not interfere with watching the movie, with clients.

There, now I've said it all.

thanx

Actually Houser,

Your idea isn't that crazy. After all, a lot of basic consumer A/V equipment have buttons to dim/disable display lights. Most of the time my wife and I watch a movie I use this feature on my preamp and DVD player. To dim my VCR, however, I have to unplug it. I usually do this because the damned clock is blinking! (Lost the remote and can't set the time anymore)

Anyway, who knows. Maybe we'll see that one of these days. In the meantime, it's been years since I've tried it, but can't you drag the cursor to the corner of your screen to instantly call up a screen saver - in your case a black screen?

Goodluck,
J

Make a BLACK desktop picture or pattern, then, option click on the desktop. make sure "active in background" is checked. now all you have left is a menubar..

Phew,

I'll let this thread end now, when it actually had some stabs att constructiveness...

Yes, the black desktop is what we do now,
yes the screensaver may work under OSX.

thanx, I will now go back to obscurity, blushing...

We are probably the only ones in the whole wild world who work on movies and want to present our stuff to our clients at the best it can be...like movies are in a cinema..a very strange idea indeed...,-9

thanx to those to took a minute to respond, really!

regards

A button to shut down the airco too.
and one to power down my girlfriend .....

and don't forget to debug the thing.

and a shortcut to delete fades on a selected region, .... but that's an old one he.

I realize that this is kinda obvious, but I am suggesting it anyway - not to be a smartass, but in case it was SO simple that it hadbeen overlooked?

What about a large piece of black felt to cover the Pro Control?

At home my wife and I use a dishtowel to cover the DVD player and VCR when watching movies. Totally low tech, and dumb, but it does work.

Again, I don't mean to be a smart ass, but rather just to mention it in case it helps. I figure you probably already thought of this of course.
