Default Video regions stall at end when edited together

I'm editing a video montage project that involves cutting together multiple videos that were shot and saved separately. My process so far has been to import a clip into a new track, cut it to the desired length, and then drag it into place (shuffle mode) directly after another clip with no gaps in between. But when I play it back, there's a stall at the end of every clip before the next one starts - the last frame stays momentarily instead of going directly into the first frame of the next clip. I haven't had this problem when cutting together different clips from the same video.

Any suggestions?
