interesting discussion. i'm in the same position - working with big sample libraries and looking for something to replace my mac pro (2008!). the iMac specs sound great to me, since you don't need the Mac Pro to store internal hard drives.
i'm a bit worried about possible fan noise of the imac. how's that working out for you, imac 5K owners? |

Hi I'm running a 5K iMac 32gb ram. Internal 256 SSD & an external thunderbolt 2 1TB SSD LaCie little big disc for samples, songs etc. HDN set up with PT12.1. OSX 10.10.4. Put it this way you have to really listen hard to hear any fans!
Compared with my new HD/IO the Avid is way louder! |
