Is the video engine also the same as 11.3.1?

Thanks but like so many things I've read today this shows Avid really didn't have their ducks in a row when they decided to do the roll out today. Basic info like this shouldn't have been on the website long ago. To tell the truth this doesn't make me feel good.

• ProTools12 lets you browse, purchase, and install plug-ins from within the application

Dashboard

• The new Dashboard window lets you create or open sessions (replacing the Quick Start window)

Session Metadata

• The new Metadata Inspector window lets you view and edit metadata for sessions

I/O Setup Improvements

• Changes to the Output and Bus pages
• Virtually unlimited Bus paths
• Subpaths for Output paths
• Automatic downmix and upmix of Output busses to Outputs paths of different channel widths
• New Monitor Path setting
• Session Interchange and I/O Mapping improvements
• New keyboard modifiers for enabling and assigning Output busses
• Audition path improvements
• AFL/PFL path improvements
• Ability to restore the I/O Setup from the session
• I/O Settings files automatically created and recalled for different Playback Engines
• New Organize Track I/O Menus By preference
• Ability to import IO Settings from session files
• Access to the I/O Setup in the Session Notes dialog

That appears to be it
Thanks for the tip. The I/O and metadata stuff looks to be way more useful to me as an editor than collaboration / marketplace stuff.

Managing I/O configs bouncing sessions between work and home has been a PITA since PT10.

Also hoping for improvements in the way of presets for session data import beyond "All" or "None"... not holding my breath though.

Cheers!

Thanks Jeffro,

Do you know if PT12 is currently compatible with the S6 software 1.4 or do we need to wait for an S6 update?

The I/O improvements will be welcomed here. I deal with I/O issues all the time caused by sessions from other people.

Just musing on the question of, "Why not hold off until there is something really new"?
iirc Avid is obligated to a release within the 1st quarter 2015?…… something to do with business law etc. Sure i read that somewhere.

If AVID weren't ready to rollout then they shouldn't have bothered.

This is the most awful and embarrassing PT update ever. And I'm a fanboy.

PT10 - clip gain - worth the (big) upgrade price alone.
PT11 - 64bit - huge improvement.
PT12 - Slight change to the I/O setup window.

Joke

Cloud collaboration, the one feature they're trying to sell to the user base which the user base couldn't give a **** about, isn't even ready.

Naah. HDX was the biggest bomb. How many plugs are coded for HDX?.. like 7. Like I'm going to dump 700 bucks so I can collaborate with musicians across the world. Actually I don't think thats available yet....as you pointed out.

It is actually quite speaking to notice that the hype about PT 12 has been close to 0 (zero).
I don't think I've ever seen such a (global) lack of interest in what's supposed to be a major release in the DAW business. It actually looks like Logic 10.1 update gets more hype.
Also, I just don't see how Avid can keep the music community to stick around for much longer.
