the 002R seems to work with 10.3 after a bit of work
upgraded to 10.3 yesterday - ProTools rang but no 002rack detected - installed the 002 drivers but still no success

ran a clean uninstall of PT 10.3
ran the 002 drivers
installed 10.3 and it worked - what a relief!

I just purchased a MacBook Pro Retina Display with Mountain Lion 10.8.2. It runs Pro Tools 10.3 with the latest 002 driver fine. I think its the PT9 002 driver.

Default Re: 002/003 Mountain Lion 10.3 driver?

Hi, can someone please clarify the comments that 002/3 is working fine in Mountain Lion please. I either get audio and no midi, and can't install another midi driver for other hardware, or get an error saying the 003 driver is incompatible.

Can anyone verify if they have midi working, or are the comments about 002/3 working fine in ML restricted only to audio?

I've tried these two approaches ... no software other than os, updates and drivers installed.

1)
Clean install of Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on empty partition, then install 003 driver V9.0.3. Result, Audio appears ok in audio midi setup, but midi does not. The MIDI window of audio midi setup shows the 003 greyed out.

I can't successfully install drivers for my midisport 8x8 usb midi interface (V3.4.0) in mountain lion after the 003 drivers have been installed. Driver installation hangs, have to force quit. Haven't bothered installing pro tools, as I need the midi functionality.

2)
Clean install of snow leopard 10.6.0 on empty partition, then applied all updates to get to 10.6.8 (with all extras through to today, so software update reports that no more updates are available). Installed 003 driver 9.0.3 and midisport driver 3.4.0, verified all appearing ok in audio midi setup, both audio and midi windows.

Then upgraded to mountain lion 10.8.2. Mountain Lion reports that this version of pro tools is not compatible, although it really means the 003 driver, pro tools hasn't been installed. It advises that the incompatible software has been moved to a folder called incompatible software.

Checking the incompatible software folder shows it just has 3 files -
digiDigidesignFireWireMIDI.plugin
and
DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin
plus a readme that explains about going to the software vendor's site to check for updates.

The 003 does not appear in audio midi setup after this, missing completely in both audio and midi windows. But the midisport drivers have been untouched by ML and they are active in the midi window of audio midi setup.

If anyone has 002/3 working successfully for both audio and midi, please advise how you achieved it. Also, whether it is 002 or 003, in case there is a difference. I'm using a 003.

Cheers,

Nigel

Unhappy Re: 002/003 Mountain Lion 10.3 driver?

Nice try Dirk, but unfortunately not.

Actually, it's funny you mentioning the good old fix. If you check all the way back to when those problems first arose, it was my detailed troubleshooting that identified and alerted everyone that the problem was pt9 removing those files when it was itself installing

I actually found that by manually replacing those files afterwards, everything returned to normal.

It doesn't help in this case though.

Anyone with functioning audio and midi on a 002/3 with Mountain Lion?

the DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin from the 9.0r3 is 77.933 bytes (90 KB on disk) and the one from the fix is 109.157 bytes (123 KB on disk) both share the same 9.0 name but they are DIFFERENT !!

Dirk,

The fix app predates 9.0.3, it was released at the time pro tools 9.0.1 was released, so the difference in size is due to the plugin files being a different version, even though they both say 9.0 in get info.

Look at this thread about the fiasco of pro tools 9.0 removing the relevant drivers, which is what was resolved by the fix app ... (in which I feature prominently on the subject)

Thanks for considering it though,

Cheers,

Nigel
