Default Pro Tools 10 Demo? Is it still available?

I wanted to use the PT10 demo but the registration link seems to have changed to PT11 which I can't use as I've got an old ilok?.

Is there a link for the Pro Tools 10 demo version request as I can't find it?

I've also gone & used the install disk & it's wiped out my PTLE 8 on my Macbook Pro is that normal?

I didn't know there was a new version!!!!! !

Nope - no more PT10 demo.
When you say you used the install disk - install disk for what? If you need to re-install PT8le than it should be in your Avid account.

I've got the PT10 disk from Avid late last year but forgot to get a demo trial, my PTLE8 install has now disappeared, surprisingly as I wasn't asked if I wanted to keep it! I should have checked the 10 demo was still available!!

I'll just have buy a version of PT10, no point buying 11 as I only have the old ilok key & my MBP is 2008 so is out of date for 11 with Snow Leopard, it's going to cost me enough for upgrading to 10 as it is!!!

No point going back to PTLE8 either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have nothing to lose by buying 11, because it also comes with the license (and installers) for 10. Plus, there's a good chance 11 will work on your Mac, though you would need to upgrade it to Mountain Lion. But even if not, 11 still comes with a license for 10, so you can keep using that, and you'll have 11 for later on when you get a newer computer. But you will need an Ilok 2.

You didn't answer my post above - what install disk?
And like I said PT8le should be downloadable from your Avid account.
I don't think you can buy a legit copy of PT10 from a regular vendor or Avid anymore; eBay or Craigslist maybe.

I bought the PT10 disk from Avid last year so I could try out the demo, I should have got my demo activation code then! I was still using PTLE8, so I had the install disk for that, my Avid account says I have a lot of PTLE versions going back to 5.1 The old disks are somewhere but don't ask me to find them!!!

11 is expensive in the UK & I would need a Mountain Lion install disk as well as another ilok2. That's over £500 I think I'd rather still buy 10 which seems to still be available here

Near as I know buying a PT10 disk does NOT give you a demo - it gives you a full version. I'm not aware that Avid has the demo on disk but only as a download. The usual process for getting a demo of PT is through their website and it's whatever the latest version is which in this case is PT11.

Why not just download the latest version of PT8le and work with that? You shouldn't need your installer disks to do that.

I suspect he means a Pro Tools 10 replacement disk.

No Pro Tools "disk" gives you anything except software to install. The license is achieved via an iLok or the LE compatible interface etc. There should be no difference (at the same exact version) between the its downloaded for an online purchase, an eval or from an install disk.

Time for the OP to move on. Just go buy an Pro Tools 11 license, and run the Pro Tools 10 using the license in that if you need to. If you can buy a (legitimate) "Pro Tools 10" retail box/bundle at low price then great for you, and that is going to qualify you to upgrade to the Pro Tools 11/10 bundle license anyhow. Beware of bargain deals from unauthorized resellers. Worse case with a 10/11 license bundle to run Pro Tools 10 is you need an iLok2, if you can't afford that Pro Tools anything is not for you. And the iLok2 physically is a much better dongle than earlier ones.

And to answer the original question, yes installing any other version of Pro Tools will wipe out PT 8. And its usually better to manually uninstall old versions before upgrading. Avid has added the ability to co-install Pro Tools 10.3.6 and Pro Tools 11.

OK so I get one of these new ilok2 & buy the above crossgrade to 10/11 from PTLE which I use my old Digi002 to qualify for the deal? Or do I use one of my old registered PTLE versions 5, 5.3, 6.1 6.7, 7.1 7.3 & 8 in my avid account?

And I can transfer my old ilok plugins to the new ilok2? Or maybe they won't work nowadays!

Thanks for the advice
