No, I'm talking about the fact that there is no host automation apart from the 8 macros.

No parameters get reported to the host apart from the hard coded macros.

Simple real example, strings only.

1st violins 8 articulations = 8 separate tracks
2nd violins 8 + 8 tracks
Violas 8 + 8 tracks
Cellos 8 + 8 tracks

= 32 separate tracks for only 4 instruments

Keyswitch instruments = 4 tracks

Well yeah, you have host automation for the 8 macros right off the bat. But as I pointed out earlier, you can automate any of the other parameters on the Edit page too. It's just that the workaround is that you have to MIDI Learn everything. It's not the greatest I know, but it's doable.

I simply said is has no host automation (still) and I don't think it ever will.

Is it really THAT important what style of automation ST3 has? As long as one can automate things is all that matters. It might be easier with host automation like you want but it's not a fatal matter is it?

yes it is if you use a touch controller.

because where midi automation is one way > in and you have to assign each parameter, host automation works both ways.

so as soon as you touch a control it knows exactly what position that control is in.

also you don't have to assign anything because all the mapping is already done.

Well, for the rest of us who don't use a touch controller, I see no real issues.
