My session backup files are messed up!
Whenever I open an auto-saved session backup file, the window position, track heights, scrolling behavior, track view states, plug-in positions, etc. are all changed. I can manually reset everything but it’s time consuming and inconvenient during a busy session. Anyone know why this happens and/or how to prevent this?

Re: My session backup files are messed up!
You mean opening the session save you made when you exit Pro Tools or are you rolling back to previous auto saves?

Re: My session backup files are messed up!
There's your problem. A lot depends on how often you have autosave set for. Your really should get into the habit of doing a save before closing out the session or quitting PT and NOT rely on autosave.

Re: My session backup files are messed up!
Of course I always save before closing or quitting, and frequently while I’m working. What I’m talking about is opening a session backup file after a PT crash, in order to save as much work as possible. The session file that crashed will only reopen in the state in which it was last saved, which could be too long ago, depending on when I last did a manual save.

Are you saving window configurations for each session? This would let you place everything back to where it was... as well as alternate window configuration views for other tasks... Window->Configurations Sparky |

"the window position, track heights, scrolling behavior, track view states, plug-in positions, etc" just a guess .. last time i had to use an auto-saved session i cannot remember and probably did not care - as it saved my bacon !!

Re: My session backup files are messed up!
@ Sparky, Thanks I’ll look into that. I just wonder why the session doesn’t come back exactly the way it was saved!

Re: My session backup files are messed up!
@ John, thanks but PT was definitely not in that state when it was auto saved.

Re: My session backup files are messed up!
How can you be sure when the autosave happened? You can't. Autosave does not happen on exit or quit. Like I said - you MUST explicitly do a save before closing the session or quitting PT. That's the only way you can be sure to have things open up when you re-open the session. This is the reason the fingers on my left hand are permanently bent so I can do a cmd-S (Mac speak for save)
