Default Why \"shunt\" terminator for Tascam DA-88 and 192?

I'd like to know why does the Tascam DA-88 needs to have a shunt terminator connected to the word clock in port in order for it to properly clock to the 192 I/O's clock out?

With an MTP AV (set to x1 Clock) feeding clock to the Tascam DA-88 clock in, the DA-88 has no problems with being put to External Clock mode.

Is the x1 clock from the 192 or Sync I/O not standard x1 Word Clock capable?

There is a selector in the Hardware setup to send out TDIF word clock. I guess it needs a certain kind. Does that help your situation at all?

Hi,

Nope. TDIF Word clock out (set from ProTools software hardware setup page) from 192 into the Tascam DA88 still doesn't allow the DA88 to go into ext sync (word clock).

However, the 1x Word Clock out from a standard MTP AV clock out to the DA88 clock in works like a charm - without the need for ANY kind of termination on the DA88.

So what's up with the 192 I/O's clock?

Hi,

I have 2 DA78, one 192 I/O, one Sync I/O.
The Sync I/O sends WC to a Rosendhal Nanoclock that distributes the WC to the two DA78.
The 192 is connected to the Sync I/O via Loop Sync and via TDIF to the DAs.

Everything works fine. I have no terminator on DAs
I have no infos about your setup but maybe the description of my setup may help you.
