Default Looking for Lex 480 delayed plate IR

Hi,

I'm sure there's a preset in the 480 called delayed plate and i can't find one in my many 480 IR's that i have!

Any one seen on?

No delayed plate in my hardware 480L, although I don't have the most recent version of the system. Could be that was somebody's preset that got sampled at some point but isn't standard to all machines?

Static convolution really can't capture the animation of chorused verbs like the 480, so even if you had the IR, it wouldn't sound the same. It would be more productive to try to recreate the patch using a good synthetic reverb plug-in.

Yup. Or put a chorus plug-in on the master fader for the bus feeding your 480 IR.

IHTH.

So what? I would still sound good.

I think it would be more productive to use an IR that wasn't quite identical to the real thing. The time spent trying to recreate a 480 preset could be spent mixing a song, or even an album, or even DVD boxset.

There would most likely be better options out there from synth verb plug-ins, that would get closer to the actual sound of a 480. I think too many people buy into the mythology of the IR being equal to the real thing, and that's just not the case for IR's of synth verbs.

???

Most engineers tweak presets and make some custom ones. It's not brain surgery, and doesn't take forever if you have a basic understanding of your reverb's parameters.

Altiverb has some 480 IR's. I do not know if they have the exact one you are speaking of but it could be a good staring point. Go to audioease.com/ under impulse responses. You have to be a registered owner of Altiverb to get the downloads.

fyi, my 480L, which also has the classic cart has no preset called delayed plate, and it is also not described in the manual.

There seems to be a "Tape-delayed Plate" listed for one of the lower-end Lexicon products.
