Default Mixed Sample rate OMFs

So now that you can have 24 bit Audio in the avid we're running into a lot of problems with having audio files that are 16 bit and 24 bit in the same project. I know that PT will not allow you to import OMFs that reference mixed sample rates but is there any software that can? Just the thought of having to go through the project and remove all the 16 bit stuff is scary. If I could import a mixed sample rate OMF, then convert everything to 24 bit and get it into a PT session I could save all the 24 bit stuff and dump out of all the 16 bit it PT. Blows that I have to get the Picture dept to fix a problem w/ the audio. Strange that the Avid which is so limited in regaurds to audio is the only thing that can fix this.

Also I kinda consider this a bug with PT. Now that Avid has the Adrenalin Systems out there (and 24 bit Audio, time to step up to the plate and get the inter-operability a lot tighter.

Great . So now we can add mixed bit-width to the mixed-sample rate errors
in OMF. I've been telling editors to be careful about how they import
audio from CDs or DV cameras where the shooter has been careless and recorded
in 12/32 mode. Another admonition to make on each job.

Gte a copy of AVTransfer running on a cheap PC. You can open any OMF an export it at any sample rate andthe required bitdepth. Everything will be converted.

Try using external media. I know embedded OMF likes to have everything the same, but with Pro Tools 6 being able to import the OMF and reference the files later, it may be possible to fool it to work by importing external media with the media off line and re-linking it later...
