FIREWIRE problem with new iMac 800 to 400 cable
I saw some forums on this but none with the same problem i am having.
Just got a new Imac 27 inch running Snow Leopard with protools 8 and a digi002 rack. Im not a newbie to protools. PT8 works great when I hook up my friends mbox 2 and the software reads the hardware just fine. But when i try to hook up my digi002 rack, it just doesn't recognize my hardware at the startup protools. I KNOW THE 002 RACK WORKS because it works fine on my older mac-book. But when I hook the 002rack to my iMac it doesnt recognize the hardware. I am using a firewire 800 to firewire 400 cable because the iMac only has a port for firewire 800. My cable is one that came with a western digital hard drive so im skeptical about that Could the cable be the issue ??? I know the firewire port on the iMac is ok because I have hooked up a hard drive to it. Thanks in advance for your help |

Re: FIREWIRE problem with new iMac 800 to 400 cable
Try placing a FW400 drive in the chain. iMac > FW400 drive > 002. Does that work?
I've seen numerous people using an 800 - 400 cable direct to a 002/003 without issues. Could be the cable. Try one of those Belkin ones and see if it works direct. |
