PT 2019.5 Video Quality and Frame Blending
Hello,
I seem to be having an issue with Pro Tools 2019.5 on macOS 10.13.6 The quality of the video seems to be blurrier than previous versions and also edit cuts don't jump to the next shot, instead they blend together, a bit like a very quick dissolve. My video quality is set to "Full Quality" Frame matches the video in Pro Tools Export settings haven't changed (1080p, 25fps, Quicktime Prores Proxy) This issue has only come up in Pro Tools 2019.5. Previous versions have been fine. Has anyone else come across this problem? |

Re: PT 2019.5 Video Quality and Frame Blending
Hi there
I've noticed that video playback in the high quality setting in 2019.5 (OSX 10.12.6 Sierra) is really blocky and grainy too. I don't get the other issues you mention. My pix are 1080P 24 FPS AVID DNx36, using AVID Mojo genlocked. If I go to draft instead of Full quality, the pictures are softer but the blocky nature disappears. I was using PT 2018.12 before which did not display this fault. NB: Have to note that Media Composer is also installed on this system. Current version- 18.12.3 Last edited by Ray JB; 06-11-2019 at 04:13 PM. Reason: Add |

Re: PT 2019.5 Video Quality and Frame Blending
Come to think of it, video does seem just slightly more grainy. I just assumed it was me, or that I was using a video that wasn't as sharp as most of the previous ones. Subscribing to this thread.

Re: PT 2019.5 Video Quality and Frame Blending
So some how this has been fixed for me.
Now when I create a new project and import a video, the quality is how it used to be in older versions of Pro Tools. I also don't have the over-lapping frames happening on edit cuts. Strange thing is that last week I created 6 new Pro Tools projects and all of them have this video issue. When opening these projects they still have this issue even though creating a new session doesn't. The only thing I did was use PT Prefs to remove the ticked boxes as seen in the screenshot. However I did use the backup feature and after pressing "trash selected", I restored my preferences. So maybe the Avid Pro Tools cache box was the issue? (I don't think this gets restored). A workaround would be: - Use PT Prefs and select the ticked boxes as seen in the screenshot. - Create a new project - Import session data from a project that is having this issue. (Importing a video from session import or importing a video normally works either way) Let me know if this works for anyone else. |

Re: PT 2019.5 Video Quality and Frame Blending
No change in video quality here running below specs with 1080P 25 and 24fps DNxHD36. Just as fine as before. QT track set to full quality. Down/Cross-conversions set to off on the video card running the most recent BM driver.
Frank.
