Default S6L as reliable front end for live recording

Hi all,
Im an old PT guy, but very much a newbie when it comes to the live desk capabilities.
After a few searches I could not find a recent answer to the following.

Im looking to do a live 56 channel recording date vis an S6L, the manual says this is doable via ethernet right to my MBP with my PT HD license.

The MBP is running high Sierra, and I have licenses for both PT12 HD and Ultimate.

Is this true and doable?

secondly, as this is a TV shoot, I need the recording to chase TC, and clock to ref from the truck.
can THIS be done?

I own a Sync HD that Ive used onions of these shoots with traditional consoles and PT interfaces.

thanks in advance for your time.

Basically yes. See http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...Tools-with-S6L for more details.

However I'm not sure if you need to get Live Sound Production Toolkit license on iLok for PT HD. This license is provided by Avid with a console and enables recording of more than 32 channels - not sure if needed for HD.

Please also see the "Pro Tools Recording and Playback" section of the VENUE S6L System Guide.

In general I'd suggest asking on Facebook instead of DUC, because there you can get more folks to hear you and respond quicker.

yep, this totally works. There are quite a few people doing this, and the S6L has become a console that tons of people are using just for recording, there was recently a blog article on 'recording tower of power', the most recent Black Sabbath live record is all recorded and then mixed in the studio on S6L too...

High Sierra is still not qualified though, right? He asked specifically about High Sierra.
