Cymbals sound weak
I am currently using PT MP Essentials 8.
For midi controllers, I have the KeyStudio Keyboard and a yamaha dd65 electronic drum set. For the drum track, I use Structure Essentials. When I wanted to make a drum track, I noticed that my when I strike the cymbal pad, it sounds really weak. Not weak as in you can barely hear it, but as if I am afraid to hit the thing. So I tried using my Keyboard instead of my dd65, but no difference. Does anybody know what I can do to improve the sound? Thanks. |

Re: Cymbals sound weak
Once you have recorded the midi, you can expand the instrument/midi track and add a lane to show velocity. Once that is open in front of you, you can find the note(s) for the cymbals(click on midi notes to hear them). When you find a note that triggers a cymbal, click on the tiny keyboard on the left end of the track for that note. Now, look at the velocity lane and all the cymbals for that note should be highlighted. Just grab one of them and drag it up(all will increase in velocity). Repeat for any other cymbal notes that are too soft. The entire process should be done in 2 minutes.

Re: Cymbals sound weak
I just tried that and it doesn't sound any different. I don't know, I just feel that the crash cymbal can do better. Something tells me it's the limited software that I have, no wonder why they call it "essentials".
Well, it's a good thing I purchased a MP 9. Still waiting for it to come. Thanks anyways, much appreciated |
