Which display do you use?
Hi all!
Since I still work with 2 15" TFT displays (no joke), it is time to look out for a larger solution. I thought of two 19" screens (one for mixer, one for edit). But since more and more of these big sized widescreen-displays are offered, I question myself if there is anybody using just one big display. Any experiences, advantages, disadvantages? Greetings C |

Re: Which display do you use?
I used dual 19" screens for years. About 3 years I switched (not by choice) to a single 20" widescreen. To solve the problem of constantly cmd-=, I programmed a shortcut keystroke on my kensington trackball. I have to admit I think I prefer this to dual screens. Switching between mix & edit doesnt even require me to move my habd and the fact that evrything is drectly in front of me. I dont have to constantly turn my head and look for things. Now that PT has window configs it is even better. I think a nice 23" display would be as big as I go. The 30" displays are great to play with in the store but I think I'd co crazy with that much real estate.
I do see advantages of 2 screens with space being used for things you always need to see like master meters and such... just my thoughts

Re: Which display do you use?
I use 2 17" LCD monitors. It'd be cool to do the dual 19's or 20's, but the 17's get the job done for me. I don't really need any more space than I have. I had a chance to see a bit of the graphics room at a local news station and not one of the graphics artists in there had anything less than dual 23" monitors. It was amazing.

Re: Which display do you use?
I use a 30" Apple display and it's great. The extra real estate really makes a difference. The edit window being way bigger makes it possible to scan alot more information at once, both up and down and side to side. I also don't mind the Command + thing at all. It's just a second nature muscle response at this point

Re: Which display do you use?
Just last year I upgraded to dual HP w2207's. For the money, I couldn't find anything better and I'm very happy with them. Having been a dual monitor guy for a few years, there was no turning back.

Re: Which display do you use?
I work on several rigs - most with dual 22" or 24" - and I prefer the rig with the single 30". I leave a portion of the edit window hanging out on the left side of the screen and a portion of the mix window hanging out on the right. If I want to switch between screens I just click on the window I want. Easy. The extra space at the bottom is usually taken up by plugins that I use frequently.
I think it's equally easy to adapt to either a 1 or 2 screen system. |

I use a single 24" Dell and I think it's a great bang:buck ratio.

I also have a 30" Apple display and I programmed the USB Overdrive to switch between the Edit and Mixer window by pressing on the Scroll Ball on the mouse. I find it to be much more practical than Command and +. http://www.usboverdrive.com/USBOverdrive/News.html
