Default BSOD with Mbox 3rd Gen plugged in

I am still getting a major BSOD whenever I plug my MBOX into the side USB2 slot.

I've tried system restore, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, the MBOX, Pro Tools, defragging drives, etc.

I am at a total troubleshooting loss. I am not even trying to run Pro Tools, I am simply trying to use the USB interface to route my stereo monitors through so I can play audio MP3s through Winamp.

I'm exasperated. I've spent 3 weeks, 10 hours a day trying to troubleshoot this on my own. The only thing that I can thing that affected my computer was a major windows update in early February. From that point on, my MBOX stopped working.

I am simply baffled why plugging in my MBOX USB cable causes a BSOD, which usually happens within 5 minutes, or as soon as I try to listen to MP3s through Winamp.

Does anyone have any quick troubleshooting tips to help restore my MBOX 3rd genertion running Windows 7, SP1, on an ASUS G75VW: http://support.asus.com/Download.asp...75VW&p=3&s=388

Thanks for your help!

I just don't understand how all of the sudden, my computer can be such a mess when all I am trying to do is plug in a simple USB MBox. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing BSOD?

It sounds like your windows update may have included MS recommended driver updates for your onboard chipset controller or the like. You could try rolling back your hardware drivers to see if your issue goes away, or revert back to the manufacturer specific hardware drivers. The MS suggested driver updates have been known to be less than 100% reliable.

PS. Next time, please start a new thread rather than posting blindly in an old one.

Which hardware drivers do I specifically want to roll back? Is this a common issue with Windows Updates? And, do you think this is related to my onboard chipset controller?

It's hard to say. It would have to do with the usb host controller. If you have an original manufacturer driver disk, try reinstalling the driver for the the chipset controller.

This is definitely a USB controller issue. Is there a way to go into my Device Manager and do something in there? Maybe rollback a driver or reinstall something? My computer only works when the MBOX is NOT plugged in.

Is there a way to compile a chipset health report to show you, which may yield more details?

Trying to run a Sandra report. It's not even letting me do this. There are a million different settings and I keep getting a generic error report. Any advice on how best and the easiest way to do this?

Is there another way to quickly troubleshoot this without this Sandra Report? I've spent 2 hours trying to generate a report and am only getting error messages.

All I am trying to do is run my MBOX and route MP3s/audio through it to my monitors. It seems like this should be an easy fix, but 3 weeks later, it clearly is not.

Maybe there's a Windows system utility that can check for the culprit, whether it be a USB related issue or is strictly an MBOX driver issue? But again, I've installed, reinstalled every possible driver and I still get BSODs.

This message board will not let me upload my .txt file Sandra Report nor will it let me copy and paste the text, because it is over the character limit. Any other ideas???
