Mbox 1.1.8 Driver Problems / Windows 8
When I use the new 1.1.8 Mbox driver my machine is freezing after short but random periods of time.
When I switch back to the older 1.0.22 driver it works fine. By freezing, I mean the whole machine instantly becomes unresponsive and has to be rebooted. No keys, no mouse, no screen activity. Frozen. It's a Dell T5500 Workstation with Windows 8. 16G memory, two 1T drives, nvidia graphics. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. If it was happening with both drivers I would suspect something on my machine, but when I load the old driver all is good, so I suspect a problem with the new driver. The new driver has many improvements though, and I'd like to be able to use it. |

I would have hoped for the best here as far as stability. It's an Avid approved machine, clean Windows 8 install, seperate fast audio drive, and approved video card. Again, I suspect problems with the new driver as it runs well with the old one. |

Re: Mbox 1.1.8 Driver Problems / Windows 8
Since I haven't seen much of a response to this post, I assume that others are running the new Mbox driver on Windows 8 without the machine freezing.
So, I 'm posting a Sandra report hoping someone can spot something that might be causing the freezing. Remember that all is well when using the older driver. The problem starts when I load the new 1.1.8 Mbox driver. The machine completely locks at random times and has to be rebooted. A clean install of Windows 8 has been a thought. I could start clean with just Pro Tools and the new driver and load stuff one at a time to see when the problem starts, but that would be a LOT of work. Over all this is a fairly clean install of Windows 8 on an Avid approved workstation. The problems here are with the Mbox 1.1.8 driver. I've switched back and forth with the new and old driver many times, and the problem starts as soon as the new driver is used. |

Re: Mbox 1.1.8 Driver Problems / Windows 8
the same exact scenario except that im on windows 7, it does not freeze and crash.. it simply cannot deliver clear audio. Old mbox 3 drivers have no such problems. I am talking about the driver, not pt.

Re: Mbox 1.1.8 Driver Problems / Windows 8
Maybe I should ask this question then:
Is anyone using an Mbox 3 with the new 1.1.8 driver on Windows 8 without a problem? |

Re: Mbox 1.1.8 Driver Problems / Windows 8
I have the same issue in Windows 8 with an Mbox Mini, but only in Pro Tools 10.3.6. Since it's not officially supported, and probably never will be, I just figured "meh". Now that a couple of the plugs I use all the time are AAX-64 I can get by with ReWire for NI stuff and I'm working in 11 full time.
But yeah, I'm having that problem with a specific version of Pro Tools. |
