Default Newbie asks What\'s needed to purchase with 002Rack

I am going to purchase the Digi 002 Rack.
As a real newbie, what will I need in addition to the Digi002 to get started? Speakers? Amp? etc.. This will be for home use only. Sorry for the newbie question.
I will be building a computer for myself. Athlon AMD-939. I'm just totally new with the recording aspect of things.
Thanks for the help and I will serch the forums for info also.

For monitors you'll need powered monitors or an amp with passive monitors.

That'll get you up and running. Then over time you can add an ADAT bridge to increase your inputs, a mixing board/fader pack controller, pre-amps etc etc etc.

But for starters all you need are the powered monitors or an amp/passive monitor setup and you're good to go

computer
keyboard
mouse/trackball
monitors (video)
monitors (audio, if passive you'll need an amp, if powered you won't)
microphones
mic cables
mic stands
headphones (possibly a headphone amplifier)
something to record
a place to put it all
acoustic treatments and gobos
pre's
compressors
eq's
reverbs
other fx
cables to go from 002r to monitors
cables to go from/to 002r to/from outbaord pres and fx
some di's
a set of ears
coffee
pain killers (headaches happen)
a comfy seat
a non-comatose individual to operate it all
a therapist
.
.
.
oh, and last but not least...it isn't needed but it sure gets rid of some headache: common sense...in other words, if you have to ask this question in the first place, you should be looking at a few books as your first purchase, NOT GEAR!

I can't disagree with the common sense advice. I will be doing a lot of reading.

I build my own computers.
I have multiple guitars and guitar amplifiers, keyboards etc...
3 microphones, stands, cables, though not real high end stuff.
I will be buying some powered speakers and cables after I do some research.
I have headphones though not super high end stuff
I have a finished off basement that's all mine, basically my music room.
I want the digi002 and will buy a package with various plugins etc.
I have a comfy seat, don't do coffee or pain killers
I am doing it for FUN, not for profit.
So I have some of the territory covered and will read a lot of the forum posts and learn as much as I can.
I appreciate any and all feedback I can get. I gotta start somewhere and already apologized for asking newbie questions amongst the more learned crowd.
Thanks for the help

Basically, I play guitar, acoustic & electric, do some vocals, play a little keyboard and I want to try and put some of my stuff together and play with it.
I want to have fun with it. Not for profit. Plus my son plays and I can help him out cause he can't afford the toys. Nuthin exotic, pretty simple for now anyways.

You're going to have lots of fun with the 002r. Welcome to the PT world!

Peace,

Roger

may also want to consider a conrol surface of some sort. the mousing works fine but can be distracting. i use a command 8 with the 002R but it sounds like a lot of the 3rd party stuff from tascam, mackie and others (even behringer!) work well to varying degrees with PT.

Plugins... more plugins...

Get an ilok and test drive everything you can get your hands on one at a time.

Read the DUC to know what is great, good, and garbage.

...and have fun
