layouts in Avid Template projects

I am sure I have seen it happen...

but not sure why!

I have made a new project from a template before and the assignments and layouts I made in the template original source project showed up in the offspring projects made from the template


but not sure how ! cos it doenst do it all the time.

I suppose I can have a project wchich I use as a template.. which I save copy in..... but thats a bit lumpy isnt it?

mind u recreating the assignments in *every* single project I do ( I got more than 150 episodes of some series for example ) sure gets old...

cant import that data?

whats the solution?

incase my sig is out of date...

its a good idea! and i would vote if I could be bothered to create yet another account/ password..

signing in by facebook - gives them all of my contacts an photo's birthday etc etc which kid of makes me go WTF why


I guess I will just do the save copy in...

faster than friggin around in the Eucon editor...




also be great if u could recall layouts from the controller itself..


banking sucks - and whats with have to have the channels visible?


I really have to say that the Digital Performer implementation kicks the ass of PT implementation... the control curface becomes an extension of my monitor - not a mirror of it...

ok - its done it again!

I closed a project ( made from the template )


then created a new project from the template

- the fader assignments made it across?


actually its managed to get a variation of a layout I created in the previous project into this new project..

super weird!

if I quit and start protools again = and make new project that doesnt happen


I guess my solution is to have a blank project called fader layout and assignment - made from the template - which I open first -


*then* create a new project from the template - and I guess thats done it,, a bit half cocked

- but prob a bit easier than doing saving copy in / close project - open project...

I never open a template from Pro Tools directly. I simply duplicate my "post prod Template" and rename it from the finder every time I start a new project. This keeps all my layouts and tracks at the same position for consistency.

Instead of importing tracks from co-workers, I import "clips and media" to my existing track (to keep my layouts).

Until Avid implements an "import layout option, it is the only way to go.
