Advice on third party mixers
Hows it going?
Im hoping somebody can give me some advice on buying a mixer. What i was wondering is if you can use firewire mixers with an intel mac, an mbox2 and pro tools LE? I would also like if the desk could be used in live situations too. If so then is there any that you can recommend, i have 1000euro to spend and was looking at the Alesis Multimix Firewire 16 or stretching to 1500 for the Mackie Onyx and Firewire card. I have read reviews of both and think my needs would be dealt with with the Alesis, but i have no clue as to whether or not it would work with pro tools. Cheers |

Re: Advice on third party mixers
It won't work with Pro Tools. Only Digidesign LE hardware can communicate with PTLE via firewire/USB.
If you want to use it like a regular audio mixer though, it should be fine, you just won't be able to get anything that connects directly to the computer and PT. |

Re: Advice on third party mixers
Get a digital mixer and use the combo of ADAT and SPDIF.
