I updated recently around 9/19, and it literally feels like I have a new computer.

This is the best combo (10.13.6+PT 2018.7.0) in a while.
Through App Store, sends a notification of waiting to be installed updates for my MBP.

Hi Mattian,

Could you possibly verify whether or not you are able to export an AAF file running PT 2018.7 on OS 10.13.6?

I have PT 2018.10 installed on OS 10.13.6 and PT just gets stuck when trying to export an AAF file. Previously I was running PT 12.5.1 on OS 10.13.6 and I had the same problem. My post link regarding this problem for reference http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p...43#post2505043

These are the settings I used

And this is the screen where PT just gets stuck after I hit OK on the previous image

If you could verify this problem for me that would be GREAT!!!

Thanks!!

Hi, I just tried this on 2018.7 under 10.13.6 and it worked. It did beach ball 3 times for about 20-30 seconds each which was weird. This was a stereo track with about 18 clips so nothing big.

Just chiming in with my experience. I had some downtime and was going to try Mojave on my 2009 Mac Pro (with 6-core @ 3.46ghz, 16GB RAM), but wasn't aware of the GPU requirements. So... instead I installed 10.13.6 w/PT 2018.10. So far it has been running great. I can play back moderately heavy sessions (80+ track full mixes) with no problems, 25-30% CPU usage, even at 32 buffer. If I put a track into record it will spike at 32 & 64, but no problems recording at 128. I do 99.9% mixing so I'm not seeing this as a big issue. But hopefully someday before we all die there will be an officially approved version for 10.13.6.

I'm on a 15" mid 2015 rMBP/16 Gb/512 Gb Flash Drive. I started out with Sierra, but before I set up my DAW stuff I upgraded to High Sierra 10.13.6. I'v never had an issue with PT or Cubase, but I never did a lot on this MacBook Pro until PT 2018.7 came out, Cubase version is 9.5.41.

Yesterday I decided to compact my system as I had High Sierra on a USB 3.0 external 128 Gb SSD for mail, web, etc.... I resized the 512 Gb flash partition (or container) to 300 Gb and added a container with the balance for a Mail & Web setup, but I installed 10.14.1 Mojave on this container. The only issue I had with Mojave was 4 1/2 hours downloading it from Apple's 22 Mb installer. After Mojave was up and running I could download the full 6 Gb intaller in less than 30 minutes. Go figure!

So far with Mojave I've installed Office 365, Chrome, iHeart Radio from the app store with no issues. I have a Behringer UMC404HD I use for remote sound effect recording (Don't laugh, my main interface is a Antelope Audio Zen Studio+) which Mojave connected right up and is working well, nothing serious yet though, no PT or Cubase.

Over time I'll try more with Mojave, but for now I'm sticking with 10.13.6 for audio work.

Unfortunately with newer hardware (i9 processor) and 10.13.6 which is all that unit can run (except Mojave) PT fails miserably for recording. If I record more than about 15 minutes straight, no plug ins, only a few tracks I get a CPU overload and it stops recording. This makes "Live" recordings completely unworkable with this combination. And PT is the ONLY DAW with this problem on the very same hardware, Tracks Live, Audition, Audacity, Logic Pro, Reaper and others all work fine, only PR seems to have this problem. 10.11.4 is over a year old, the i9 machines came out in June. I've been with PT since the beginning but I am really thinking about cancelling my subscription if I cannot use it anymore. I understand about Mohave, but I don't understand about 10.13.6. Of the 50 pieces of software in my company PT is the ONLY one not running on this OS.

I must admit the upgrade to 2018.10 seems to have brought this issue back again somewhat for me.

Hi everyone, I’m planning to go from tdm 10.3.8 to hdx and I would like to know wich version is more stable with less errors!

Do you still think that version 2018.7 is the best or there’s some new release that’s even better?

I will use it on High Sierra!

Luke
