Xmon blue or black - whats the difference?
Hey Folks
I have been offered a blue D-command at a very fair price which comes with the blue Xmon. I have an Onmi Native setup and I was wondering I would benefit from keeping my Omni as monitor controller (two sets of monitors) or use the Xmon and the monitor features in the D-command. Secondly, if anybody have some thoughts about which things to specially look for on a used D-command I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance Jakob

Re: Xmon blue or black - whats the difference?
An X-Mon utility on D command is very powerful.
But your question is not correct.... You must use your omni interface in order to output audio from the computer. Unfortunately x-mon is analogue only. If you test a used d-command perform a general test (several steps in utility). Check out that all rotary controls are responsive. Check out that all the buttons are working well. Just my 2c

Ahh, I see - thanks
I asked because I manually shift between the two speakers on the Omni but if I understand you correctly you would use the X-mon (the blue model) instead and make the toggle on the D-command?

Re: Xmon blue or black - whats the difference?
The whole monitor section on d-command will not function without xmon.
You won't be able to solo/mute your Left, Center Right e.t.c without it. D command has a separate connection to the xmon via 15 pin cable. I wish that D-Command could control Pro Tools outputs using its monitor section! BTW: I think X-Mon is blue only...never saw a grey one...
