Default Monitor Amplifier Advice?

HI,

I need advice about my Event 20/20 monitor speakers (Passive). What brand amplifier should I use? I looked at Hafler, QSC and Mackie. QSC and Mackie M800 are on the too powerful side. I am afraid to blow my Events out. What do you guys think?

I use the Hafler TA1100 amp with my Event 20/20s. They sound great. It's funny, but almost everyone I know has the same monitors and amp. It's very affordable.

For a little while I had a Sonic Maximizer and they sounded really nice. The bass response is ok, but you really need a dedicated subwoofer to really feel deep bass. I'm saving up.

We as well use the Hafler TA1100 with the Event 20/20's. We love it. They sound great together. The Hafler is definately the way to go.

TA1100 here too. Great amp!
I know musiciansfriend.com was having a sale on a Hafler M5 and TA1100 Amp for $299. I would imagine the amp itselt would be relatively inxepensive now.
You could use the M5's for secondary reference if you wanted.

I just checked musicians friend and they have it for $199. Do you use the TA1100 or they have a TA1600. Which one should i get? I have a small room..

I honestly don't know about the TA1600. If its a Hafler I am sure it is good. I use the TA100 and it sounds good. What you put in is what you get out. (The Hafler Manuals arent that great, but the gear self explanatory.)
I think teamed up with your already great sounding monitors, they will make a great combo. The amp outputs 20 to 200 Watts and I know the 20/20 can handle way more than that.

Back from guitar center. I picked up the Haflar TA 1600 (75W per channel into 4 ohms). It sounds great. Now I realize the real sound of my Events. It was great sounding thru my Harmon Kardon Home Stereo but not after hearing this. THanks for turning me on to Haflers.
