Default Disable "A" shortcut

Is there a way to disable specific shortcuts on pro tools? The "Y" shortcut is bad enough, but at least I normally catch myself doing it. The "A" shortcut (delete everything back to the previous breakpoint) however is easy to miss (because it's dealing with audio I've already listened to). I keep finding I've cleared a bit of audio 5 minutes after I've done it.

If there's not a way to disable these things, there really should be Avid. Like most people (I would guess) I use perhaps a fraction of the function Pro Tools has to offer - it's great that it can be all things to all people, but it would be nice if we could refine it personally.

You could turn commands focus off. Try switching to groups or clips focus.

This will disable both the "A" and the "Y" shortcut. However, it will also disable any other shortcuts you use that are just the single letter. But - You could also temporarily enable these by holding Cntl (on a mac - not command). Not sure what the equivalent key would be for PC.

On Win, with Autohotkey, you can program a script:

y::
return

a::
return

Basically, when pressing Y or A, nothing will happen, as there is no code before the "return".
However : one cannot type the letter a or y, e.g. for naming a clip. But, the script can be temporarily suspended.
I guess, the same is possible with Quickeys, if you are on a mac.
