Default Looking for a great setup

I want to make the jump to HD and I would like the latest and greatest version.
What do you recommend in a new Mac system. Price is not a problem. I am going to max the Ram out but I am wondering how I should configure the 8 or 12 core models. I currently use PT 12.8.2 native and a G5 2008 early build that does not allow me to go higher than El Capitan. So I need to purchase a new mac and wait for PT to catch up. It is a forced jump but if I'm going to jump I am going to jump big. Thanks

You will probably be better with 8 cores at the highest speed over 12 cores at lower speed

Talking about the CPU speed vs number of cores. Example: if you have a choice of 12 cores at 2.9GHz speed or 8 cores at 3.4GHz speed, go with the 8-core.
