Pops and crackles
This is probably an easy fix that's my novice fault. I have a new Digi001 that is making all kinds of electrical-sounding popping and snapping on playback. It didn't happen until I installed a new internal HD in my Mac G3, which is now dedicated to recording (but that may be a coincidence-- I installed the new HD just a couple of days after first hooking up the Digi).
The snaps and pops only happen on playback, and it is random-- they occur in different places each time. BUT, the weird thing is that using the "scrub" tool, I can drag back and forth over one of the pops and hear it multiple times-- it is on the audio track but doesn't appear as a visual blip on the graphic. But then the next time i play back the same track, the pops appear in different random places. It happens even with just one track of recorded into. Other info: Mac G3, 350 blue; my keyboard is going into inputs 3 and 4 of the Digi. No protool plugins. Some thoughts from a nice person with more experience than me would be greatly appreciated! --chris in seattle |
