Default Question about Avid warranties (purchasing a used S3)

Where can I learn about Avid warranties and service organization? Is it specific to various countries or is it worldwide in general?

The thing is: I might go and buy a used S3. The original and authorized seller though has gone out of business. Are warranties transferred? Is it still valid? .. I mean, how do I check? Is there a link / page?

Is there a service contract to subscribe to?

Most thankful for your input.

Default Re: Question about Avid warranties (purchasing a used S3)

Here's what I know:
Hardware(including S3) have a 1 year warranty(so a used S3 may be out of warranty already)
For the warranty to remain effective for the full year, the seller would need to; A-have the S3 registered. And B-provide a transfer of ownership document(providid by Avid).

Having said that, my best recommendation is to look for a great deal and not to expect any warranty at all.

The S3 does not have a service contract. Only the higher up consoles do (S4 and S6)

Actually S3 (and Dock) have available support contracts. The S3 is $249 a year and the Dock $99. These cover return to base repairs.

Thank you, all three of you.
Lots of links to check out.
Really interested in upgrading from Artist Mix + Control to S3 + Dock.

Wish you a nice weekend.
