Default DAD MOM Clicks

Hello All,

I migrated to MTRX/HDX/DADMOM a few months ago and am loving most things about it. I am though having one consistent issue for which I've not been able to get DAD to respond to me about. I'm wondering if there is anyone else here with the same setup that is having the same issue.

When I change the level on the DAD MOM while playing back audio I get consistent but random little clicks in the audio as I scroll past each new detent. The clicks have a random amplitude and don't seem to have any correlation to the type of audio content. No clicks occur while changing the level when no audio is playing back.

After long work days the clicks are like sandpaper on my ears.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Greetings,

Although not an Avid product, I've actually never heard anyone complain about this particular issue. Is this unique to the MOM?

best,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I'm not sure if it is or not and have only asked here since I know the DAD MOM with the MTRX is a fairly typical combination (and I'm new to the MTRX/HDX environment).

I've only stumbled across one other person running the same rig and they say they don't have the same problem. I was just looking for others who have the same setup who might have experienced it as well and might be able to shed some light on the issue. I don't know if it's a combination of the devices together causing the problem or the DAD MOM exclusively.

Maybe it's just a bad unit. I guess I'll just keep trying to get an answer of any kind out of DAD.

I have the same setup, new Macpro 2019 with 1 HDX-card, MTRX and MOM. You're problem, I've never had or even heard of.
I'll run my genelec 1237A sam straight out the mtrx via aes/ebu.
Runs without any problem, even with taking the mtrx sometimes out of the studio and use it for live recording or streaming on my macbookpro. Putting it back in the studio and everything is as it was. DAD has made something really beautiful here... superhappy with the unit.

I haven't heard this problem. The MOM simply changes the level in DADman, albeit in steps of 0.5dB rather than 0.1dB as can be done with the mouse.

Can you hear the clicks when changing the level with the mouse or arrow keys? If so, then perhaps you can take the issue up with Avid directly as it removes the MOM from the equation.

I would also check the clocking, that everything is correctly synchronised.
