Working with ogg files

Am a student and just organising to do a remix of a dance film. I know the files are Ogg.. I haven't got the files yet to try out. I use Pro Tools 11.3.

I take it I will have to convert to wav? If so can anyone recommend a converter.

thanks any info on ogg and why they are used by video mixers be very helpful

What OS are you on?

If Mac, Myriad should work. It can output to OGG so I would assume it can read it too. I don’t have any OGG files to test, but it should work.

From memory, you can also do this with VLC which would be a free option. I can’t confirm if VLC will export to a lossless codec though.

I've used Audacity (which I believe is free) to open and convert Ogg files to Wav. They're useful to video editors and mixers because they can contain multiple tracks of audio from various sources (cameras, boom mics, lavs, etc.)
