Re install the mbox drivers, make sure that you have disabled the power saving options of the usb buss.

Also I nocited you only have one drive in your laptop, that's not recommended. You should have one drive for the programs and one for your audio files

Also, check if the Mbox shows up under "Sound, video and game controllers" in Device Manager:

i have uninstalled and reinstalled twice. it is not working. it was working, now it is not. i appreciate your help, but really i'm not at all concerned about recording to my internal hd because i can't record anything. maybe once everything is working...

Dude you've already got some of the best names on the forum on the case with you at freaking midnite on a Saturday. I'd say you're doing pretty well. Just take it step by step with the recommendations and hopefully you'll be cranking out the tunes soon.

Bob O. hit the nail on the head with the thing about the Tascam interface. The beginning thing that got you frustrated was it not working after somebody "told" you it was supposed to work. If that someone was the salesman who sold you PT10 then you've got every right to return it, or get HIM on the phone to help you through this.

do you guys know why ableton is becoming so popular? because i can turn it on and plug whatever i want into it and everything just works. i don't even like ableton, and i don't make loop based music, but i find myself using it all the time because using pro tools requires hours of trouble shooting to do anything. i've spent my entire night tonight trying to fix this stupid program and make it do what it should and it's only gotten worse. i won't even tell you all the trouble i had to go through to get this mbox this week. because i was told it would make everything so much easier and work flawlessly. this is all a scam in my opinion.

i appreciate all the help. it's avid that i'm mad at. the idea that i would spend $1000 and then they would ask for another $30 to answer a question is ridiculous.

I'm always willing to go the extra mile with troubleshooting, but I think I'll have to leave this one.

I'd say take another shot at it tomorrow before packing it all in. I'll check up on this thread during the day tomorrow.
