Default Re: Need some Vocal Tips

There are many, many tricks for getting a fat vocal. . .and it all starts with having a great sounding voice and a great performance, through a great mic, into a great mic-pre. If you've got all that, you're there.

For a less than great voice, try the Renaissance Vox channel (It'll bring the voice to the front), the Rennaissance De-esser (to knock off some of the high end sibilance) and the Reverberator to add a little ambience.

You could also try doubling the voice, chorus, phase shifting or adding an octave lower. You could have the singer sing the part again, only run it dry right under the wet signal.

On the chorus, you might try harmonies with the singer himself/herself doing the parts--straight on, the same part, the same phrasing, at the same time, in a third, fifth, seventh or whatever harmony fits the part. It'll make the main track seem larger. . .while you're using other voices for the backing tracks.

Good luck!
