Default S6 Monitor Spkr sets default to chosen source

Hey guys.

Curious about something. Working with an S6 M40 with Avid Matrix and DADMan. Is there a way to setup on either the S6 or DADMan to have it auto select a default source when switching between speaker sets?

I do a bit of switching back and forth between MAIN and ALT(TV) to listen to the downmix and I’m constantly having to make two changes. One for the speaker set and the other for either downmix or selecting a different source. It would be nice to just hit Alt1 Spkrs and have the S6 know which source and whether or not to downmix.

Thanks!

Greetings,

This is actually pretty simple. All you need to do is make sure you are in Intercancel mode and find the Control Room Soft Keys on the Automation Module and add a Surface function to each of the Speaker Sets. The image below is showing the example of adding a Surface function for Source Dolby RMU on Alt1. You could easily do this for each of the 3 different Speaker Sets.

best,

Jeff

Jeff, this is great. Thanks. Unfortunately, unless im doing something wrong, the switching of sources works for the soft keys but does not switch for the S6 surface buttons for switching speaker sets.

The monitor functions on the touch-screen Monitoring page and the physical controls of the Master Module are hard wired.

Im not sure i follow. Are you saying its not possible to program the hardware buttons for speaker set selection?

If your saying the the soft keys and physical spkr set buttons follow each other, i see that. However, the programming only applies to the soft keys when switching, not the physical buttons next to the control room level knob

Thanks

Any custom modifications to monitoring functions (which is a Surface function) need to be done on console Soft Keys which includes the following sections:

Master Module Soft Keys
Automation Module Soft Keys
Automation Module Locate Keys
Automation Module Transport Keys
Automation Module Wheel Keys

The Main, Alt1 and Alt2 physical switches within the monitor section of the master module as well as the touch-screen function on the Monitoring page of the master module are hard wired to the first 3 speaker sets defined within the monitor profile in DADman for the monitor assigned to EUCON Mode = Control Room.

So what you're saying is it can't be done via the console switches. Well, I think this would be a very useful feature. Since the switches operate via Eucon, it would make sense that these can be programmed as well. Having to switch to the monitor soft keys and change monitoring spkrs this way defeats the whole purpose of making a 2 button push to a one button push via the console monitor section. Whether it's programmed on the S6 or through DADMan, I think it would make sense to be able to customize these buttons.

It would be great if the buttons operated the same once programmed.

Jeff, do you think this is doable with future updates?

I'll defer to Eddie on that as he is the product manager.
