AIR Instruments, AAX Status and Upgrade Information

2.02 is not a free upgrade, that's why you can't get it to work.

Why does it say free upgrade? I have 2.0. Says free upgrade for everything except Loom, Xpand3 and I forget the last one. What am I missing?

You own the Air Expansion Pack 2.0, right? That comes with Hybrid 2.

You want to upgrade to 2.02 (and then 2.04), they claim it's free for all instruments except Hybrid. But for some reason, since you have the pack, they won't let you upgrade individual instruments so you must buy the upgrade for $29.99

It's backwards, I know. I had an email conversation with the AIR people about this, and they kept using circular reasoning to explain that the upgrade is free but I have to pay for it because I got a good deal on the bundle. The prevailing statement was, verbatim, "We do not have separate codes to update the individual instruments." Which makes me wonder why exactly they itemize the prices if there is no option except upgrading the bundle as a whole, and what that means for those who purchased single instruments. I know they were being disingenuous, and it's convinced me to never buy their products.

I don't know for sure, I'd assume everything will work but AIR is putting so-called compatibility updates behind a paywall. They're the only company I know of that charges for minor releases (2.0 to 2.02).

No. The upgrade from the original expansion pack is a paid upgrade.

He owns AIEP 2.0 and is trying to update to the latest version, which is 2.02 (with 2.04 announced but not yet released). The upgrade from AIEP 2.0 to AIEP 2.02 is also a paid upgrade.

Is it truly a minor upgrade? Just bug fixes and no feature fixes?

According to the AIR site 2.02 brings Hybrid 3 and also VST/AU support along with other improvements to sound quality, workflow, interface design etc.
