Default Buffer Error-Gateway Laptop

I'm just got a brand new laptop(gateway tablet pc CX210X).

intel 945 chipset
7,200 rpm 100 gig hard drive
2 gig ram
t7200 2.0 ghz intel core 2 duo
64 mb ati radeon graphics

I'm running an original Mbox and pro tools 6.9

So the problem is, I get this error ever time i press play, no matter how intense or sparse the session is, I automatically get this error: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092. This error goes away whenever I plug in my external USB 5400 rpm WD passport drive(just backs up my mp3 collection and old session, i never run any sessions directly off this drive). Even with this drive i still get some random loud screeching and what seems to be glitchier performance than on the emchines desktop I used to own(single hard drive, 3 ghz celeron D processor, 512 mb ram).

I've tried just about everything I know(deleting prefs, disabling other audio drivers, followed all troubleshoot instructions) anybody have a clue whats going on?

You need to be running your sessions off of a qualified, secondary Firewire drive.
Also understand, 6.9 does not support dual core's.
Dual core/processor support began with 7.x.

can someone Please explain what type of performance hits I would suffer from using 6.9 instead of 7.x with my dual core. And I ran My sessions off the system drive of my old pc and never had a problem. All this still doesnt explain why even sessions running completely off my my system drive refuse to work without the external drive plugged in.

it seems simple, but make sure that your internal wireless internet is disabled while working with sessions...I had the same sort of problem for a while and it cleared it right up...
