For me, after upgrading from a M1 mac mini w/Big Sur in february, to the system in my signature, and running PT23.3 natively since march, any crash or problem with quitting has stopped.

I tend to run large Sound FX edit sessions with 600 or so tracks and the full season of a series with an elements library at the end of the timeline. It's a full house.

When closing a session PT 2022.10 through 2023.6 will hang for around 8 mins at the second to last stage "Closing Session….. Clip List".

The final stage "Closing Session….. Audio File Catalog" is but a blip.

I often save the session and just force quit protools to avoid the wait... the session seems to open again with out errors.

This doesn’t happen with smaller sessions.

Anyone else experiencing this?

yes - I'm getting a 'several minute' wait on closing session - with that message,.

really slowing me down today as I'm jumping around using matchbox..

if I force quite it takes a while to restart Protoolls - so no easy win

Rich,

I'm going to create a case on this for you.... so tech can start to look into reproducing it to fix. thanks for the spec's.

The rest on this.. I will go thru the whole thread and create cases for peeps who obviously have the issue so we can figure this out.

Something I noticed on several systems. The longer PT runs, the more likely it'll crash during quitting. I don't see it when I just work for one or two hours, but If I never quit it during the day, It'll crash at the end of the shift.

Maco OS 12.4, M1 Ultra, PT 2022.12.
Hi Chris... I have a case going for this so hopefully between all the force quit peeps, they can figure this out.

Case # 04642790

Hey Marc....

Created a case for you.... 04642799. -- might want to update your spec's on your profile. Thanks for including them in the post.

It's usually fine if I've been working for under an hour or so. But after any extended period of having the application open, I'll need to force quit when I want to close pro tools.

It's a minor annoyance if anything, but I'm curious if anyone else is having the problem.
I'm on Windows and had the same issue with this sadly. However, I've done a fresh system setup recently and the issue is gone so far but I've yet to do a very busy session again.

From what I can tell is that this happens with sessions that have lots of insets and general more than a few plugins activated.

Seems to be an issue of closing down resources on running tracks?

I experience the same behavior - work all day on a session, then Pro Tools will hang when I try to quit.

I'm on a late 2019 Xeon/Intel Mac Pro - so it's not just the Apple Silicon users affected.
