@jack-Of course I always save before closing or quitting, and frequently while I’m working. What I’m talking about is opening a session backup file after a PT crash, in order to save as much work as possible. The session file that crashed will only reopen in the state in which it was last saved, which could be too long ago, depending on when I last did a manual save. Also .bak files have creation dates and times next to them in the finder.

Autosaves have always acted that way (Mac and PC here), as far as I can remember. I assume it's just a quirk of the process, but I could be wrong.

That is what I suspected as well but was not sure about. Anyhow it’s for an emergency recovery so I am not sure most people notice or care.

You can open an Ideascale request - but don’t hold your breath....
