A few weeks ago I was running out of room on my System Drive and needed to clone to a bigger drive and ad an additional Audio drive. I found (2) 500 gig Seagate SATA's for $59 ea at Fry's. They came with a cloning software installation CD which also partitions, and Kick A!

USB drives are not supported or recommended for audio. You can use them for backup. Any 7200 rpm drive will work fine as a second internal drive. Just check your mobo so you get the correct interface(SATA or IDE). If you get a big drive(like 500gig or more) you may want to partition it in half to make "housecleaning" easier.

Just bought it. After install, do I access it just like my ext HDD? How do I set it up for separate recording from files etc?

You access it just like any other hard drive. It will be faster than your external drives. You don't need to treat it any differently for recording than you do to store files. Right click on My Computer>Manage>Disk Management amd make sure it is a "basic" drive and not a dynamic drive. Make sure it is partitioned as you like, give each partition a name etc. You can do just about anything you want with the drive in the Disk Management window.
