Default Problem with Mbox 2 Pro

I am attempting to use my Mbox 2 Pro as an interface to play iTunes files from my MacBook Pro. I do not have any Pro Tools software on my MacBook Pro because my Pro Tools 8 software was on an earlier MacBook Pro that is irreparable. I will eventually get the newest version of Pro Tools as well as a better interface such as an Apogee Duet. In the meantime, however, I would simply like to play some of my iTunes files from my MacBook Pro and put my KRK V4 monitor speakers to use.

Here is the problem I’m encountering: when the fire cable is attached to Mbox Pro 2 and my MacBook Pro is powered on, Mbox Pro 2 does not show up as an option in Preferences.

Am I wasting my time trying to use Mbox 2 Pro for this purpose without having any version of Pro Tools software on my working MacBook Pro? Is there a driver of some sort that would solve my problem? (I’ve searched the Avid website without any success).

My Mbox Pro 2 device uses fire wire cable that plugs into my MacBook Pro. I’m pretty sure that I have the proper cable.

Here is some information about my system:

I have 2011 MacBook Pro. I am currently running the latest version of macOS Sierra 10.12.5.

Processor for MacBook Pro: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5.
Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

My Mbox 2 Pro is from about 2006.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Paul

The Mbox 2 Pro doesn't support OSX 10.10 or above, the last driver is from 2013.
