Default temporary group for track-faders ?

does someone know how to build a temporary group for track-faders, like it is possible in Digital Performer or in Logic ?

frequently I want to move some faders together without the need to built a group for them

In Logic or in DP you only have to select those tracks and move one of their faders resulting that the faders of the other selected tracks move also

Thanks for any hints

That would drive me insane if faders were grouped together in moves if only the tracks were selected.

In PT you need to make a group; I don't believe this example of a questionable feature exists! I can send a bunch of tracks to nominal, mute, solo by selecting the tracks and Shift-option or shift-s for solo, etc, but not ride faders without a group. If Digi were to implement this, there had better be a way to turn it off (you know, like a preference check box, hahaha). Easier to make a group and then de-activate or kill it later.

You could create a group called "Temp", and simply modify it each time you need to remove/add members.

thanks for answering

but how circumstantially this is, to built a group only to make some faders moving together (probably it will be faster to move them one by one)

why not allowing the shift-option command to do this with selected faders ?

I do this all the time with VCA faders.

Let's say I want to raise all vocals a bit.

I'll highlight all the vocal tracks in the edit window (which selects them if you have that link button on)

Then I'll create a group and name it temp.

Then I'll make a VCA track and assign it to Temp.

Make my moves, then delete the VCA and hit yes that I want to coalesce.

Delete my group.

Done.

thanks kenny for your help

yes, there has a lot of work to be done only to move some faders together in the same direction ;-)

as I told before, in DP or in Logic only one step is necessary to do

selecting the tracks and (while holding dedicated keys) ... moving them - so intuitive and easy

ya, i'm gonna plus 1 this,
here's why...
when importing audio or session data; regions and media only,
faders default to zero.
(actually, i'd be fine with a default to off)
but since they come in up
i've often wished you could use the 'ol shift option to drag em down,
but of course that snaps em to zero.
so if we could add a modifier to make a temp grp that would be swell.
or not,
e

yes, for me it´s a little like the missing 'new playlist' command, so essential for a smooth workflow that you cannot believe it´s not implented in a 20 years old daw

NOT essential for work flow at all. PT already has this covered with basic grouping and VCA control. Adding this feature can actually be counter-productive. When non adjacent channels are selected on a control surface for visual representation, one does not always want faders of those Channels locked. If you want groups , then make groups. Better yet, make VCAs control the faders, while individual faders of the group remain independent.
Bottom line...... When I move a fader in PT, I don't want it affecting anything but itself unless it BELONGS TO A GROUP. (without a VCA)

I understand your point of view

but for me it´s something like ... if you don´t know it - you don´t miss it

why has this to be so complicated if I only want to move some faders together ?
