Exclamation Re: AVID Selling M-Audio and Pinnacle Lines!!!

I don't see anyone commenting on the timing of this transaction. It happened on the first day of business in Q3. Coincidence? Doubtful. There is a reason this transaction did not close in Q2. If it wasn't discussed on the conference call this past Monday, I am hoping it will come to light during the conference call for their 10-Q statement.

I think one of the problems with the roadmap (or lack thereof) is that AVID is publicly traded. Forward-looking statements, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc. If AVID was not publicly traded, they could tell us whatever they wanted to, whenever they wanted to.

More news from RH over at the PTE Blog.........

"Tim Claman, Chief Technology Officer at Avid has gone in this latest round of job cuts.

Tim had been at Avid since 2001, although he had previously worked with Digidesign since 1998. I had the pleasure of meeting Tim in London a few months ago; very clever and also a really good guy.

A CTO principally oversees development of new technologies, no replacement has yet been confirmed."

The grim news continues.......

Change is good. Relax. Pro Tools (the software) isn't going anywhere. Whether it's an Avid product or not matters little.

This has been said for the past several years.

I could see UA buying Pro Tools and saving it.

Agree with dmazurek. Lots of folks have been complaining on the DUC about Avid and calling for change...now
change is here and many are flipping out! Relax! We all have what we have now so let's be hopeful for the positive change so many have been begging for!

Happy for you to criticize Avid (I run a blog doing it) but get your facts straight please.
His facts are straight enough and what you are stating is opinion, not facts or truth.
I wouldn''t call selling the software separately a "vision" thing and making one good decision (if it was a good business decision) does not mean you're not running the company into the ground.

This is a great move and also a very brave move, considering that Apple is going in the opposite direction, so I guess we should thank Apple for AVIDs decision to focus on more hi-end products where there is still a potential market , far away from "App-hell".
