Problem w additional latency on instrument plug-in when triggering from a different
Hi, Its been a while since I posted..
Wondering if anyone can help me - I am getting additional latency when triggering an instrument plug-in from a different midi or instrument track. Let me explain: Lets say I create a stereo instrument track (lets call it - "track 1") and I insert a 'Mini Grand' piano plug in. Now when I press record on that track and trigger the instrument it has an acceptable latency. Now If I create another instrument track or Midi Track (lets call it - "track 2") and if I now trigger the inserted Mini Grand on 'track 1' from 'track 2' (by selecting the same instrument on the Midi selector pull down menu), I get an additional latency when triggering the same instrument, which is not an acceptable amount of latency. I can get around this by inserting another instrument on 'track 2' but I would like to just use one plug in instrument in this case and trigger it from 2 different tracks. Can anyone tell me why I am experiencing the additional latency when triggering the plug in instrument on track1 from track 2? Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem w additional latency on instrument plug-in when triggering from a differe
Have you tried using midi tracks for the additonal midi input(s)? That would be the "correct" way, I think. And use the Instrument part of the tracks to route the midi signal. (Select Instrument in the selector where you show/hide inserts, sends and so on.)

OP, one thread is enough. Now you’re going to have two seperate threads and answers for the same issue which is going to get confusing.
Can a mod merge these please? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Its actually 2 different questions. Perhaps I should not have brought up this issue in the other thread.

Hmmm... probably splitting hairs at this point. The questions are VERY closely intertwined.
Like I said, I just think you’re making it harder to track answer to your issue. Your choice obviously. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Quote:
Yes I use additional midi tracks to trigger the Virtual Inst in the Instrument track. I just reloaded the same session I was using yesterday and now I am getting the same latency (or midi trigger response time; whatever the problem may have been..) regardless of whether I trigger it from the Instrument track or a separate midi/instrument track. So now I don't know what was the problem but this it happens pretty often.
