The best way to find out would be to demo them and try them for yourself.

But a couple of things to keep in mind:

The ML4000 has a few more features like gating and expanding.

The L3LL, though has dithering built in, whereas the ML4000 does not.

The ML4000 can be bought by itself, but the L3LL is only available as part of a few other Waves bundles, including Mercury, Horizon, Diamond, and the L3 Maximizer bundle.

Waves offers several different limiters, and there are subtle differences between them. They each affect the music a different way and each have a particular sound to them. I either own or have demoed all of them, and the L3LL specifically is my favorite.

Hey guys. Sorry to bring back such an old post, but I'm facing the issue of deciding between the Waves L3 Ultramaximizer (and its bundle) and the McDSP ML4000.

I would certainly love to know what you guys have learned of these plugins within these 4 years!

For me, it really depends on source material. These are very different beasts.
