This is too confusing. Guy says he has both systems, asks about which is better. Either I'm missing something here, or he is. I think I'll just bow out of this one, I can be of no further help.

All you have to do is to read his first post here: he's a professional mixer/producer. Maybe but he doesn't know squat about the hardware he's working with.

Default All you experts, please help me !

As you said. You been using PT for twelve years and you don't know what system would be better. Really? Only you can make the choice.

By definition Native means CPU based DSP power... So in order to answer your question we need to know what machine will run the PT11HD.

I personally would load a hard drive with a new operating system and install the trial PT11HD (if they have a HD trial) and try it on your HD Native system. See how far you would get and know that a new machine with more power will of course run more.

If you want to build a new rig get the Most processors you can afford now. I might go with a 2012 12 Core used, as the power to price ratio is REALLY good still compared to the new macs of almost 2 times the price. (Geekbench give power ratings which are not exactly DSP related but a good benchmark of overall power of the machine)

Then see if you can get work done that way... If you are mixing on this rig then you most likely wont need HD native as it will not add any processing power to the mix.

If you currently use a UAD card to power some of your plug in choices then that will add to the horsepower your new machine would have...

If thats not enough then GO HDX and skip the HD Native step since its a Mixing rig and not a low latency tracking rig.

Either way you will need PT 11 HD software license to run that many tracks (I think, not exactly sure what the plain PT 11 track counts are, but I'm sure that info is easily available via google)

****MAIN point to take away here is the the processing power of a HD native rig is completely dependent on the computer****

Ram is important but processors are for plug ins. 16 g and up ram is probably more than enough. . .but with those track counts 24 g on a 12 core machine will probably be golden for years to come (like 3-5 years or so depending on upcoming technology advances in Plug in power needs.)

As I mentioned on my quote, I run PT 10 HD on both rigs. My question goes to
HD Native users running PT 11 HD.

So get the upgrade to PT11 (you're going to be using it anyways) and try it on both rigs. When you say HD Native are you talking about PT11 with the HD Native card? Whether it's that setup or your HDX rig it's still going to cost you $1000 US IIRC.
