Default Midi Engine Issues?

Hello, does anyone know what to do when one can no longer route plug-in outputs to ProTools Tracks? I'm also having issues assigning Midi tracks to specific instrument channels.

I don't know what is going wrong. Any advice or resources would be appreciated.
