Can I use FW 800 with a Mercury Elite Pro Classic HD that has the Oxford 934 chipset? According to the following ProTools 9 compatibility specs... the 934 chipset is only listed as FW 400 compatible. (see below)
On the other hand... the 924 chip is listed as both FW 400 and 800 compatible. I know the Mercury Elite Pro AL drive has the 924 chip. I am ready to purchase one of these drives... just need a little help in deciding. Thanks in advance... Thanks Park... I did end up calling OWC and they claim that the Classic Drive with the 934 chip is approved for Pro Tools 9 and that perhaps Avid has not updated the info on their website. Unfortunately, I do not have a way to contact Avid directly to confirm.
Anyone else out there using Oxford 934 chips in their hard drives with no issues? |

And I would accept OWC's recommendation. I own several of their drives cases with an Hitachi drive inside. They work well.

I am pretty sure that you have, and just don't know it. It is not a brand, but a specific chipset. Very common on all approved PT drives. ff
