Alternative to Digidelivery?
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for web based FTP hosting services? Something alternative (and a little different) to Digidelivery.
Basically I want to include on my website a client page that lets a client securely log on and upload a zipped (or not) Pro Tools session to an ftp host that I can then download, mix and send them links to download the mixes. I've looked at a few alternatives including Wiredrive (a little cost prohibitive @ $350 a month), Postspot (reasonable at around $35 a month) and Gobbler. Wiredrive and Postspot seemed a little more orientated to video post and are somewhat collaborative with client notes/revisions etc. which I don't really need or want (I'd rather do that on the phone or via a Skype session). Gobbler requires you sign up for an account and download their app, too much trouble for most people plus their current limit is 25gig. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Sean Beresford or email: [email protected] |

Re: Alternative to Digidelivery?
We just installed CrushFTP.
The documentation for installation is a bit lacking, but once you are up and running it is very simple for your clients to use. It is also very inexpensive |

Re: Alternative to Digidelivery?
Many thanks for the suggestion, I checked out their site, it looks like this will work for me.
One question though.... It seems the way the CrushFTP client works is that the files are sent directly to your "in-house" or "studio" computer that has to be online. What I was hoping to do was buy a new web hosting package from my current host provider (godaddy.com) which includes a 150 gig of storage space and have it set up so that my clients are actually uploading their files (securely) to my godaddy storage space. And then I get a notification email that files have been posted and I download the files from my my godaddy storage. I want to do it this way as I don't have my studio computers on all the time. Do you know if this is possible with the CrushFTP service? Thanks for your time Sean |

Re: Alternative to Digidelivery?
No, the Crushftp ihas to reside on a computer in your end.
You only have to have it on when you need to be transferring. It is amazingly fast in your end once you have it set up, and it is very simple for your client. You just drop the file in a folder you have created for them and rightclicking the folder copys an html link with the password embedded which you email the client, They only have to click on the link and they are logged in. It zips the material on the fly and it unzips on the fly so no time is lost. |

Re: Alternative to Digidelivery?
If you're asking for an easier way to transfer big files.
I use Drop Box, very reliable.
