Default Ultimate PC for 001...

Hey guys, I'm building a system for a friend who will be using the machine primarily for audio. I've built PCs in the past, but I'm not quite up to date with what's hot right now and working with PT. The budget is big, but we don't want to get rediculous. If you guys could let me know what hot mobo/cpu combos are working with PT right now that'd be great. Thanks a lot.

Asus A7M266
AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (1.6GHz Relative performance)
Thermalright SK6 Copper Heatsink
Matrox G450 32MB DDR Dual Head
Promise Ultra 100TX2
IBM 60GXP Hard Drives

Enermax or Antec 350watt Powersupplies and a well ventelated sturdy chassis should do the trick. Hope this helps.

Regards,

Alex T.

Without doubt, go with an AMD based system instead of the PIII. You will save $ and get A LOT more performance. There is tons of info in this forum about this issue.

Killer System:
The new A7V266E with KT266a chipset and the new XP 1.9Ghz processor.
KT266a chipset is the best Athlon chipset available now surpassing the KT133a, AMD761 and KT266. Check out review at www.tomshardware.com
Has onboard Promise ATA controller already.
Great looking board and proven with Digi001.

with support for windows XP coming out I would seriously consider going for a p4 and build a system for 'the not too distant future' so you won't have to upgrade anything too soon.
Win XP is a way cool operating system (the most stable yet in my opinion) and as soon as digidesign support it, it'll rock.
